Propranolol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Lentinan interacts with.

Laboratory evidence suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP1A2 include amitriptyline (Elavil), haloperidol (Haldol), ondansetron (Zofran), propranolol (Inderal), theophylline (Theo-Dur, others), verapamil (Calan, Isoptin, others), and others.

Here's the gist for propranolol: your liver uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to help break it down. Lab and animal studies hint that lentinan may rev up that enzyme a bit. If that happened in real life, your body might clear propranolol a little faster, which could leave less of it working. Propranolol isn't a prodrug, so faster clearance means weaker effects, not stronger ones.

In plain terms, that could look like blood pressure or heart rate creeping back up, or migraines and tremor being less controlled. Honestly, though, this has only been seen in the lab, never in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Just mention the lentinan to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how you're doing.

Some drugs metabolized by CYP2C19 include proton pump inhibitors including omeprazole (Prilosec), lansoprazole (Prevacid), and pantoprazole (Protonix); diazepam (Valium); carisoprodol (Soma); nelfinavir (Viracept); and others.

Here's the gist for propranolol: lab studies hint that lentinan may speed up an enzyme called CYP2C19, which is one of the pathways your body uses to break down certain medicines. If that happened with propranolol, it could be cleared a bit faster, meaning slightly weaker effects. In real terms, you might notice your blood pressure or heart rate creeping up, or less control of migraines, tremor, or chest pain.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This is only test-tube and animal research, and it has not been seen in actual people. Propranolol also leans more heavily on a different enzyme, so any effect is likely small. Still, if you're considering lentinan, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6). So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 in patients taking lentinan.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include tricyclic antidepressants such as imipramine (Tofranil) and amitriptyline (Elavil); antipsychotics such as haloperidol (Haldol), risperidone (Risperdal), and chlorpromazine (Thorazine); beta-blockers such as propranolol (Inderal), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), and carvedilol (Coreg); tamoxifen (Nolvadex); and others.

What Is Propranolol (Cardiovascular) Used For?

Brand names: Inderal LA, Inderal, Angilol, Syprol, Inderal Injection, Half-Inderal LA, Bedranol SR, Half Beta Prograne, Beta Prograne, Lopranol LA, Slo-Pro, InnoPran XL

This intravenous (IV) form of propranolol is used in hospital or clinical settings to treat dangerous heart rhythm problems. It is generally reserved for life-threatening arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) or those that occur during anesthesia.

Specific conditions it treats include fast heart rates coming from the upper chambers of the heart (supraventricular tachycardia), certain arrhythmias caused by digitalis toxicity, dangerous ventricular rhythms that haven't responded to other treatments, and fast heart rates caused by excess adrenaline-like substances during surgery.
