Lentinan + Aripiprazole
Aripiprazole brand names: Abilify, Abilify Mycite, Abilify Maintena.
Aripiprazole falls into 2 drug categories that Lentinan can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Laboratory research suggests that lentinan might increase the activity of cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6).

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Lentinan interacts with whole categories of medication. Aripiprazole falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Lentinan in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Aripiprazole
Aripiprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Lentinan interacts with.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include tricyclic antidepressants such as imipramine (Tofranil) and amitriptyline (Elavil); antipsychotics such as haloperidol (Haldol), risperidone (Risperdal), and chlorpromazine (Thorazine); beta-blockers such as propranolol (Inderal), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), and carvedilol (Coreg); tamoxifen (Nolvadex); and others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for aripiprazole (Abilify). Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear this medication. In lab and animal studies, lentinan seemed to speed up that enzyme. If that held true in people, your body might break down aripiprazole a little faster, which could lower its levels and make it work less well.
In real terms, that might mean weaker control of symptoms like mood swings, agitation, or unusual thoughts. But I want to be honest with you: this has only been seen in test-tube and animal research, never confirmed in humans, so the concern is mostly theoretical. Still, before you pair these, check with your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how well your aripiprazole is working.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Aripiprazole also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear aripiprazole. Lab research hints that lentinan might speed up that enzyme. If that were to happen in people, your body could break down aripiprazole a little faster, which might lower its levels and make it work less well. For someone using it for schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, that could mean symptoms (like mood swings, agitation, or unusual thoughts) aren't kept in check as well.
Here's the reassuring part: this is only based on test-tube and animal studies, and it has never been reported in actual patients. So I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you plan to use a lentinan supplement, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how well your medication is working.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
