Aripiprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Polypodium Leucotomos interacts with.

Theoretically, Polypodium leucotomos might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro and animal research suggests that Polypodium leucotomos can decrease the metabolism of midazolam by a mechanism possibly related to the inhibition of CYP3A4. However, a small study in humans suggests that taking Polypodium leucotomos with midazolam does not affect the metabolism of midazolam.

Here's the gist for aripiprazole (Abilify): your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear it out. In lab and animal tests, Polypodium leucotomos appeared to slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, aripiprazole could build up slightly and you might notice more of its usual effects, things like drowsiness, restlessness, dizziness, or feeling lightheaded when standing.

Now the reassuring part. This is mostly theoretical. When researchers actually tested the fern extract in people using a similar CYP3A4 drug, they saw no real change in how it was processed. So a meaningful interaction here is unlikely. Still, since aripiprazole is a long-term medication, it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor before you add this supplement.
