Here's the short version: your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear amphetamine. Lab studies suggest BMPEA strongly blocks that enzyme, which could let amphetamine build up in your system. Amphetamine isn't a prodrug, so blocking its breakdown means more drug sticking around, not less.

In real life, that could push amphetamine's effects too far: a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, and anxiety. On top of that, BMPEA is itself an amphetamine-like stimulant, so you'd basically be stacking two stimulants. Keep in mind this interaction is theoretical, based on lab data, not human studies. Still, BMPEA is best avoided. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Here's the simple version: your amphetamine medicine (like Dyanavel XR or Mydayis) is already a stimulant. It revs up your nervous system, which can bump up your heart rate and blood pressure. BMPEA is a hidden stimulant too, chemically a cousin of amphetamine, so stacking the two basically means doubling up on the same kind of effect.

The worry is that combining them could push your heart and blood pressure higher than intended, with things like a racing or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or rising blood pressure. To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how these drugs work, not on solid human studies. Still, BMPEA isn't an approved ingredient and can hide in supplements, so I'd steer clear and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding any weight-loss or sports supplement.

What Is Amphetamine Used For?

Brand names: Dyanavel XR, Adensys XR-ODT, Mydayis, Adzenys ER

Amphetamine treats Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients 6 years and older. Adzenys XR-ODT, Dyanavel XR, and the amphetamine extended-release orally disintegrating tablet formulations are specifically approved for ADHD in this age group.

Amphetamine Sulfate tablets and Evekeo (amphetamine sulfate tablets) are also approved for narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness) and as a short-term aid in a calorie-restricted weight-loss program for exogenous obesity (weight gain from external factors like overeating) in patients who have not responded to other approaches.
