Dapsone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) interacts with.

Theoretically, BMPEA might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA inhibits CYP3A4 by up to 37%.

Here's the basic idea with this pairing. Your body partly relies on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down dapsone. In lab testing, BMPEA appears to slow that enzyme down a bit (roughly a third). If that happens in real life, dapsone could clear more slowly and build up in your system, which may mean stronger effects and a higher chance of side effects.

With dapsone, the side effects worth watching are things like feeling unusually tired, shortness of breath, or a bluish tint to the lips or skin, which can signal blood problems like anemia or methemoglobinemia. That said, this concern is theoretical and comes only from test-tube data, not from people. On top of that, BMPEA is an unapproved stimulant with real heart risks, so I'd steer clear of it and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Beta-methylphenethylamine (BMPEA) is a synthetic stimulant chemically similar to amphetamine that has been found in some weight-loss and sports supplements, often without being clearly listed on the label. What Is Dapsone Used For?

Brand names: Dapsone, Avlosulfon, Aczone

Dapsone tablets are used to treat dermatitis herpetiformis (a chronic, intensely itchy blistering skin condition) and leprosy (all forms, except where proven resistance to dapsone exists). For leprosy, dapsone tablets are typically used in combination with other anti-leprosy medicines.

Aczone Gel (dapsone gel, 7.5%) and dapsone gel are indicated for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris in patients 9 years of age and older. This topical form is applied to the skin and is not used for leprosy or dermatitis herpetiformis.
