Here's the bigger picture with these two. European mandrake is genuinely toxic and should not be taken at all, so the main concern is the plant itself, not just how it mixes with your medicine. On top of that, mandrake's tropane alkaloids slow down the gut. Because galantamine ER is designed to release slowly, a sluggish gut could let more of it absorb than intended.

The other problem is a direct clash. Galantamine works by boosting acetylcholine, while mandrake blocks acetylcholine, so they fight each other and could blunt your dementia treatment. More galantamine in your system could also mean nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, a slow heartbeat, or dizziness. This is theory-based, but please don't use mandrake. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor.
