European Mandrake + Ivabradine
Ivabradine brand names: Procoralan, Coralan, Corlentor, Corlanor.
European Mandrake has a moderate interaction with Ivabradine. Theoretically, concurrent use might increase absorption of some drugs because of inhibited gastrointestinal (GI) motility caused by European mandrake.

ORAL DRUGS
Why this applies to Ivabradine
Ivabradine falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group European Mandrake interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Let me start with the big picture: European mandrake is genuinely toxic, and we never recommend taking it in any form. Setting that aside, here's the specific concern with ivabradine. Mandrake's tropane alkaloids (atropine-like compounds) slow down how your gut moves. When your digestion crawls, a pill like ivabradine can linger longer in your intestines, so theoretically more of it gets absorbed.
Ivabradine is not a prodrug, so more absorption could mean a stronger effect. That matters because this drug's main job is slowing your heart rate. Too much can drop it too low, leaving you dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or causing the flashes of brightness in your vision that ivabradine is known for. This is theory based on pharmacology, not proven cases, but please skip mandrake entirely and check in with your doctor or pharmacist.

About European Mandrake
What is European Mandrake?
- Insomnia (traditional)
- Pain relief (historical)
- Anxiety or depression (folk use)
- Gout and aches (traditional)
- Sedation or anesthesia (historical)
European mandrake is a highly toxic plant from the nightshade family that was used in ancient and medieval times as a sedative and pain reliever. It contains powerful poisons that can cause serious harm or death, and there is no proof it safely treats any condition. We strongly recommend you do not consume mandrake in any form.
About Ivabradine
What Is Ivabradine Used For?
Brand names: Procoralan, Coralan, Corlentor, Corlanor
Ivabradine is used for stable, symptomatic chronic heart failure in adults to reduce the risk of being hospitalized for worsening heart failure. It is for adults with a reduced ejection fraction (the heart's pumping strength is low, 35% or less), who are in normal sinus rhythm with a resting heart rate of 70 beats per minute or higher. They must also be on the highest beta-blocker dose they can tolerate, or be unable to take beta-blockers.
Corlanor (the brand) is also approved to treat stable, symptomatic heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy (a weakened, enlarged heart muscle) in children 6 months and older who are in sinus rhythm with an elevated heart rate. The generic ivabradine tablet labels list the adult use only.
