Here's the basic idea with this pairing. European mandrake contains tropane alkaloids (like atropine and scopolamine) that slow down how fast your gut moves. When your gut empties more slowly, a pill like nilutamide can sit there longer and potentially be absorbed more completely. In theory, that could push your nilutamide levels a little higher and make its side effects more noticeable, things like nausea, hot flashes, trouble seeing in dim light, or fatigue.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how these chemicals work, not something proven in real patients. The bigger issue is that mandrake itself is genuinely toxic and we strongly advise against taking it at all. Please don't change your nilutamide, and talk with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding any supplement.

What Is Nilutamide Used For?

Brand names: Nilandron, Anandron

Nilutamide tablets are used together with surgical castration (removal of the testicles) to treat metastatic prostate cancer — prostate cancer that has spread to other parts of the body (Stage D2). It is not used alone; it works as part of this combined treatment approach.

For the best results, treatment with nilutamide should begin on the same day as surgical castration, or the day after.
