First things first: please don't use European mandrake at all. It's a genuinely poisonous nightshade plant, and that's the bigger safety concern here, well beyond any interaction with your hepatitis C medicine.

The theory on file is that mandrake's tropane alkaloids slow down how fast your gut moves things along. When your stomach and intestines empty more slowly, a pill like Sofosbuvir (Sovaldi) may sit around longer and get absorbed a bit more, which could nudge its levels up. Keep in mind this is only a theoretical idea based on how these chemicals behave, not something proven in real patients. Sofosbuvir is usually well tolerated, with mild effects like headache or tiredness. Still, since this is part of an important treatment course, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything new with it.

It contains powerful poisons that can cause serious harm or death, and there is no proof it safely treats any condition. We strongly recommend you do not consume mandrake in any form.

About Sofosbuvir

What Is Sofosbuvir Used For?

Brand name: Sovaldi

Sovaldi (sofosbuvir) is used to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. In adults, it treats genotype 1, 2, 3, or 4 HCV — with or without compensated cirrhosis (mild liver scarring that the liver is still managing). It is always used as part of a combination regimen with other antiviral medicines.

In children 3 years and older, Sovaldi is approved for genotype 2 or 3 HCV, with or without compensated cirrhosis, in combination with ribavirin. Sovaldi is also used with ribavirin in adults with HCV-related liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) who are waiting for a liver transplant, to help prevent HCV from returning after transplant.
