European Mandrake + Thioguanine
Thioguanine brand names: Thioguanine, Tabloid.
European Mandrake has a moderate interaction with Thioguanine. Theoretically, concurrent use might increase absorption of some drugs because of inhibited gastrointestinal (GI) motility caused by European mandrake.

ORAL DRUGS
Why this applies to Thioguanine
Thioguanine falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group European Mandrake interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Let me start with the most important point: European mandrake is genuinely poisonous and we do not recommend taking it at all. That said, here is what the interaction with thioguanine means. Mandrake's tropane alkaloids (like atropine and scopolamine) slow down how fast your gut moves things along. When food and pills sit in your stomach and intestines longer, an oral drug like thioguanine can sometimes be absorbed in larger amounts than expected.
With a chemotherapy drug, even small swings in how much you absorb can matter. More thioguanine on board could mean stronger effects, including low blood counts, mouth sores, nausea, and liver strain. This concern is theoretical, based on how these chemicals behave, not on real cases. Please do not combine these, and talk with your oncologist or pharmacist.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Thioguanine page
“With thioguanine (Tabloid), a chemotherapy pill used mainly for leukemias, the supplement question is an absorption question. Each interaction here can change how much of a swallowed dose reaches the blood, and with a cancer drug that deserves genuine caution, because a partly absorbed dose can undercut treatment.”

About European Mandrake
What is European Mandrake?
- Insomnia (traditional)
- Pain relief (historical)
- Anxiety or depression (folk use)
- Gout and aches (traditional)
- Sedation or anesthesia (historical)
European mandrake is a highly toxic plant from the nightshade family that was used in ancient and medieval times as a sedative and pain reliever. It contains powerful poisons that can cause serious harm or death, and there is no proof it safely treats any condition. We strongly recommend you do not consume mandrake in any form.
About Thioguanine
What Is Thioguanine Used For?
Brand names: Thioguanine, Tabloid
Tabloid brand thioguanine is used for remission induction and remission consolidation in acute nonlymphocytic leukemias. That means getting the leukemia into remission and then helping keep it there.
