Here's the thing to understand about this particular pairing: your birth control pill (mestranol plus norethindrone) is the one acting as a mild CYP3A4 inhibitor, meaning it can slow down the liver enzyme that breaks down evodia. So the concern flows toward the supplement, not your pill. In theory, taking evodia alongside this medication could let evodia's compounds build up higher and linger longer in your body, which might make any of its effects (or unwanted ones) stronger.

Honestly, this is very weak evidence based only on animal and lab work, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Your pill's contraception isn't expected to change here. Still, since evodia isn't well studied in people, I'd run it past your pharmacist or doctor first.

Here's the thing to understand about this pairing: the concern actually runs from your birth control pill toward Evodia, not the other way around. The estrogen in this combo pill (mestranol) can gently slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which happens to be one of the pathways your body uses to clear a compound in Evodia called rutaecarpine. So in theory, taking them together could let more of the Evodia ingredient build up in your system, possibly making its effects stronger.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It comes only from test tube and animal studies, so we really don't know if it matters in real people. Your pill's contraceptive protection isn't expected to change. Still, since Evodia is poorly studied, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Your birth control pill here combines an estrogen (mestranol) and a progestin (norethindrone). Both hormones are cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In test-tube studies, evodia seems to slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let these hormones build up a bit higher than usual, which might mean more estrogen-type side effects like nausea, breast tenderness, bloating, headaches, or spotting.

Here's the honest part: this is only seen in lab dishes, never confirmed in real people, so the concern is more theoretical than proven. Food-level amounts are unlikely to matter; concentrated supplements are the bigger question mark. Before adding evodia, please check with your pharmacist or doctor so they can weigh it for you.
