Evodia + Oliceridine
Oliceridine brand name: Olinvyk.
Oliceridine falls into 2 drug categories that Evodia can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, evodia might have an additive effect with drugs that prolong the QT interval, potentially increasing the risk of ventricular arrhythmias.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Evodia interacts with whole categories of medication. Oliceridine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Evodia in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
QT INTERVAL-PROLONGING DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Oliceridine
Oliceridine falls under QT INTERVAL-PROLONGING DRUGS — the group Evodia interacts with.
Evodia has demonstrated dose-dependent activity as a proarrhythmic agent in animal and in vitro studies. Evodia infusion in animals extends the action duration potential and induces prolongation of the QT interval and Torsade de pointes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the situation with Olinvyk (oliceridine), a strong IV opioid given for short-term pain. Oliceridine is one of the medicines that can stretch out the heart's electrical reset, called the QT interval. Evodia, in lab dishes and animal studies, has done the same thing and even triggered a dangerous rhythm called Torsade de pointes. The worry is that stacking the two could add up and make a serious heartbeat problem a little more likely.
I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is theoretical and comes only from test tube and animal research, not from people. Since oliceridine is usually given in a hospital setting, your care team is the right one to know about any supplements. Just mention Evodia to your pharmacist or doctor before using both.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Oliceridine also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that evodia extract inhibits hepatic CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Oliceridine (Olinvyk) is a strong IV opioid given for serious short-term pain, and your liver partly clears it using an enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest evodia may slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in real life, oliceridine could clear more slowly and build up, which means stronger opioid effects, more drowsiness, nausea, low blood pressure, and in a worst case slowed or shallow breathing.
Here is the reassuring part: this is only test-tube research, and it has not been seen in actual patients. Also, oliceridine is given in a hospital where staff watch you closely. Still, it is worth mentioning any supplements, including evodia, to your care team so they can keep an eye on things.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.
- CConsensus.
- DAnecdotal evidence.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Oliceridine page
“Oliceridine (Olinvyk) is an IV opioid used in hospitals for acute pain, and I treat its supplement list as one to respect, since eight of the 158 interactions on file rate major. Most of the list involves the liver enzymes that clear the drug: grapefruit can push oliceridine levels up and intensify side effects, while St.”
