Aspirin, Caffeine, Hydrocodone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group False Unicorn interacts with.

In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates. Some of drugs that are CYP2D6 substrates include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Here's the wrinkle with this combo: the hydrocodone part of Damason-P is a prodrug. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to turn some of it into hydromorphone, which is what gives stronger pain relief. False Unicorn, in lab dish studies only, appears to slow that same enzyme down. So in theory, less hydrocodone gets converted, and you might get weaker pain control than you expect.

I want to keep this in perspective. This is based on test-tube data, not real people, so we honestly don't know if it matters in everyday life. The aspirin and caffeine pieces aren't really affected here. If you take this together and your pain isn't well managed, or anything feels off, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates. Drugs that might be affected include some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, nicardipine, verapamil), chemotherapeutic agents (etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), glucocorticoids, cisapride (Propulsid), alfentanil (Alfenta), fentanyl (Sublimaze), losartan (Cozaar), fluoxetine (Prozac), midazolam (Versed), omeprazole (Prilosec), ondansetron (Zofran), propranolol (Inderal), fexofenadine (Allegra), and numerous others.

Here's the piece to focus on with this combo pill (which mixes aspirin, caffeine, and the opioid hydrocodone): the hydrocodone part is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In a lab dish, False Unicorn slowed that enzyme down. If that were to happen in real life, hydrocodone could linger a bit longer and feel stronger, which might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or slowed breathing.

I want to be honest, though: this is only a test-tube finding, not something proven in people, so the real-world risk is uncertain and likely small. Still, because we're talking about an opioid, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two. Don't start or stop anything on your own.
