Fermented Milk and Rizatriptan

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Rizatriptan and Fermented Milk in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Rizatriptan

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Rizatriptan is filed under 3 classifications — serotonergic drugs, serotonergic drugs, oral drugs. Fermented Milk has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being antibiotic drugs (moderate), antihypertensive drugs (moderate) and immunosuppressants (moderate) — and none of Rizatriptan’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Fermented Milk — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Rizatriptan’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Rizatriptan column appears here.

About Fermented Milk

What is Fermented Milk?

  • Digestive health
  • Supporting gut bacteria (probiotics)
  • Lactose-related digestive discomfort
  • General nutrition (protein, calcium)
  • Immune support
  • Diarrhea prevention

Fermented milk is a food made by culturing milk with helpful bacteria or yeast, and it provides protein, calcium, and probiotics. It is generally safe for most people and may help digestion and gut health, though benefits depend on the product and strains used. People with milk allergy or weakened immune systems should be cautious.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Fermented Milk is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Fermented Milk record says about it on its own.

Fermented Milk: dosing

There is no single standard dose for fermented milk. As a food, people commonly have a serving such as a cup of yogurt or kefir, but amounts vary widely. For probiotic products, the helpful microbes are often measured in colony-forming units (CFU), and the right amount depends on the strain and the product.

About Rizatriptan

What Is Rizatriptan Used For?

Brand name: Rizafilm

Rizatriptan treats migraine headaches — with or without aura — when they occur. It is approved for adults and for children and teens ages 6 to 17. It is available as a regular tablet (Maxalt, Rizatriptan, Rizatriptan Benzoate), an orally disintegrating tablet (Maxalt, Maxalt-MLT, Rizatriptan Benzoate ODT), and a dissolving oral film placed on the tongue (Rizafilm).

Rizatriptan is for stopping a migraine once it starts — it is not meant to prevent migraines from happening, and it is not approved for cluster headaches. It should only be used after a doctor has confirmed a migraine diagnosis.
