Here's the simple version: doxazosin already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels, and fish oil can nudge blood pressure down a little on its own. Put them together and those effects can add up, so your blood pressure may dip a bit more than expected.

With doxazosin, the symptom to watch for is feeling lightheaded or dizzy, especially when you stand up quickly (this drug is well known for causing a "first-dose" drop). Adding fish oil could make that more noticeable. The blood-pressure effect of fish oil is usually modest, and the evidence here is fairly mild, so this isn't a reason to panic. Just take it slow when standing, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding fish oil so they can keep an eye on your readings.

About Doxazosin

What Is Doxazosin Used For?

Brand name: Cardura

Doxazosin tablets (Cardura, Doxazosin, Doxazosin mesylate) are approved to treat the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) — an enlarged prostate that causes urinary problems — and to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack. Doxazosin tablets may be used alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines.

Cardura XL (the extended-release tablet) is approved only for BPH symptoms. Cardura XL is not approved for high blood pressure.
