Flaxseed + Nitroprusside
Nitroprusside brand name: Nitropress.
Flaxseed has a moderate interaction with Nitroprusside. Theoretically, flaxseed might have additive effects when used with antihypertensive drugs and increase the risk of hypotension.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Nitroprusside
Nitroprusside falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Flaxseed interacts with.
Clinical research shows that daily flaxseed consumption, especially for longer than 12 weeks, modestly reduces blood pressure.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know about pairing flaxseed with nitroprusside. Nitroprusside is a powerful IV medicine used in hospital settings to lower very high blood pressure quickly. Flaxseed, when taken regularly as a supplement (especially for more than 12 weeks), can modestly lower blood pressure on its own. Put the two together and you could, in theory, get a little extra blood pressure drop.
Honestly, this concern is mostly theoretical and based on how these things work, not on real-world reports. And since nitroprusside is given by drip and carefully adjusted by your care team minute by minute, they'll already be watching your blood pressure closely. Still, it's worth mentioning any flaxseed supplements to your doctor or pharmacist.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Nitroprusside page
“Nitroprusside (Nitropress) is an IV drip used in the hospital, often in intensive care, to bring dangerously high blood pressure down within minutes, and its interaction list deserves genuine respect. Nearly every entry either adds to the drug's blood-pressure-lowering effect and risks a steep drop, or pushes pressure back up and works…”

About Flaxseed
What is Flaxseed?
- Constipation and digestive health
- High cholesterol
- Heart health
- Menopausal symptoms
- Blood sugar support
Flaxseed is a nutritious food rich in fiber, omega-3 fats (ALA), and plant compounds called lignans. It is most reliably helpful for constipation and may modestly lower cholesterol, but evidence for many other uses is mixed or limited. It is generally safe as a food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it as a supplement, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Nitroprusside Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Nitroprusside as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Flaxseed — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
