Urokinase falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Forsythia interacts with.

Theoretically, taking forsythia with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding due to decreased platelet aggregation. Forsythia might reduce platelet aggregation by inhibiting platelet activating factor. Some of these drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the short version: urokinase is a powerful clot-busting (thrombolytic) medicine given in a hospital, usually through an IV to break up dangerous blood clots. The biggest risk with any clot-buster is bleeding. The idea on file is that forsythia might make platelets a little less sticky, which in theory could add to that bleeding risk if the two were used together.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes only from lab and animal studies, not from people, and an interaction is considered unlikely. In real life, urokinase is given in an emergency or controlled hospital setting where your care team already watches your bleeding closely. Still, never take any herb like forsythia around a clot-busting treatment without telling your doctor or pharmacist first.
