Urokinase falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Danshen interacts with.

Theoretically, danshen may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Danshen has been reported to have antithrombotic effects. Animal research also suggests that taking a danshen combination formula with clopidogrel exhibits a synergistic increase in antiplatelet aggregation and prolongation of coagulation time when compared with either taken alone.

Here's the simple version. Urokinase is a powerful clot-buster, given in a hospital to dissolve dangerous clots in conditions like a pulmonary embolism. It already raises your bleeding risk on its own. Danshen, an herb used for heart and circulation, can also thin the blood and slow clotting.

Stack the two together and you could tip the balance toward too much bleeding, things like bruising, bleeding gums, nosebleeds, blood in urine or stool, or in rare cases more serious internal bleeding. To be fair, this concern is mostly theoretical and based on animal and case reports, not strong human studies. Still, with a drug this potent it's worth respecting. Always tell your hospital team and pharmacist about any Danshen use before treatment.
