Sitagliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Galbanum interacts with.

Theoretically, taking galbanum with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In an animal diabetic model, galbanum resin reduces levels of fasting blood glucose at doses of 100 mg/kg, but not 400 mg/kg. This has not been shown in human research.

Here's the short version: galbanum, the aromatic resin used in perfumes and incense, might gently nudge your blood sugar lower on its own. Since sitagliptin (Januvia) is already working to bring your sugar down, stacking the two together could in theory add up and push you into hypoglycemia, with symptoms like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or feeling unusually hungry.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. The only signal here comes from one animal study, and oddly the sugar-lowering effect showed up at a lower dose but not a higher one. There's no human evidence at all. Sitagliptin alone rarely causes low sugar, so the real-world risk is small. If you do want to use galbanum, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your readings.

Galbanum is an aromatic gum resin from a Ferula plant, used mostly in perfumes, incense, and traditional remedies. What Is Sitagliptin Used For?

Brand names: Januvia, Zituvio

Sitagliptin is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is available as tablets (Januvia, Zituvio, and generic sitagliptin products) and as an oral solution (Brynovin), all approved for this same use.

Sitagliptin is not for type 1 diabetes. It has not been studied in people with a history of pancreatitis, so its safety in that group is unknown.
