Here's the simple version: this combo medicine includes pentobarbital, a barbiturate that calms your nervous system, and chamomile has its own mild sedating quality. Stacked together, they can add up, so you might feel drowsier, foggier, or more lightheaded than you expect. That sleepy effect could be stronger if you're also driving or doing anything that needs a clear head.

I want to be honest about the evidence though: this concern comes from lab and animal work, not from real people, so it's more theoretical than proven. A cup of chamomile tea now and then is unlikely to be a big deal, while concentrated chamomile supplements are more of a question mark. If you notice extra grogginess, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Theoretically, German chamomile might inhibit CYP3A4 and increase levels of drugs metabolized by these enzymes.
In vitro evidence shows that German chamomile might inhibit CYP3A4. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, there might be an increase in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking German chamomile.

Your medicine (Micomp PB) is a combination product, and one of its pieces, the ergotamine, is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. German chamomile, in lab dishes at least, looks like it may slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, ergotamine could build up. That matters because ergotamine has a narrow safety margin, and too much can cause problems like cold or tingling hands and feet, leg cramps, nausea, or chest tightness.

Here's the reassuring part: this is only seen in test-tube studies, never reported in actual people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over a cup of chamomile tea. Still, if you're using concentrated chamomile supplements regularly, let your pharmacist or doctor know so they can keep an eye on things.

This combination product (Micomp PB) contains caffeine, and caffeine is the piece that connects to chamomile here. Caffeine is cleared mainly by a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. In lab and animal studies, German chamomile appears to slow that enzyme down a bit. In theory, that could let caffeine linger longer, which might mean a little more jitteriness, a faster heartbeat, or trouble sleeping.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This interaction has only been seen in test tubes and animals, never confirmed in people, and it is rated minor. A cup of chamomile tea is very unlikely to cause any real problem. If you use concentrated chamomile supplements regularly, it is worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor.
