This combo product pairs codeine, an opioid that can make you drowsy, with pseudoephedrine, a decongestant that tends to be a bit stimulating. The concern here is really with the codeine side. Lab studies hint that gotu kola may gently calm the nervous system by acting on GABA receptors, so in theory it could add to codeine's sedating effects. That might mean more sleepiness, dizziness, slowed thinking, or feeling foggy.

I want to be honest: this is a theoretical worry based on test-tube research, not strong human studies, so don't panic. Still, since codeine already causes drowsiness, it's reasonable to be cautious. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you'll be driving.
