Theoretically, taking gotu kola with hepatotoxic drugs might have additive adverse effects.
There are at least four case reports of hepatotoxicity associated with the use of gotu kola. However, more information is needed to determine if gotu kola was the causative factor in these cases.

Here's the thing about combining gotu kola with dronedarone (Multaq): both have been linked to possible stress on the liver. Dronedarone already carries a warning about liver injury, and there are a handful of case reports where gotu kola was tied to liver problems too. The worry is that using them together could add up and put more strain on your liver than either one alone.

I want to be honest though, this is mostly theoretical and based on just a few anecdotal reports, so it's not a strong or proven interaction. Still, since dronedarone needs liver monitoring anyway, I'd play it safe. Watch for signs like yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding gotu kola.

About Dronedarone

What Is Dronedarone Used For?

Brand name: Multaq

Multaq (dronedarone) tablets are used to reduce the risk of being hospitalized for atrial fibrillation (AF) — an irregular, often rapid heart rhythm. It is approved for adults who are currently in normal sinus rhythm but have a history of paroxysmal (comes and goes) or persistent atrial fibrillation.

Multaq is not appropriate for everyone with AF. It must not be used in people with permanent atrial fibrillation or in those with recently worsened heart failure requiring hospitalization — these patients face a doubled risk of death, stroke, and hospitalization if they take it.
