Here's the simple version: gotu kola may have a mild calming, sleepy effect of its own. In lab studies, it seems to act on GABA receptors in the brain, which is the same general pathway many sedating medicines use. Metoclopramide (Gimoti) can already cause drowsiness, tiredness, and a foggy or sluggish feeling for some people. Pairing the two could, in theory, add up and leave you more sedated than expected.

I want to be honest about the evidence here, though. This concern comes only from test-tube and pharmacology reasoning, not from real patient studies, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. Don't stop or change anything on your own. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up, and watch for extra drowsiness if you ever use them together.

What Is Metoclopramide Nasal Spray Used For?

Brand name: Gimoti

Gimoti (metoclopramide nasal spray) is approved for adults with acute and recurrent diabetic gastroparesis — a condition where diabetes damages the nerves controlling stomach emptying, causing nausea, vomiting, and bloating. It works to relieve those symptoms by helping the stomach empty more normally.

Gimoti is not recommended for children, or for adults with moderate to severe kidney or liver disease. It is also not recommended for adults taking strong CYP2D6 inhibitor medications (certain antidepressants and other drugs that slow how the body breaks down metoclopramide).
