Axitinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Guggul interacts with.

Theoretically, guggul might reduce the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that guggul constituents known as guggulsterones can induce CYP3A4.

Here's the concern with pairing guggul and Axitinib (Inlyta). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down axitinib. Lab studies suggest the active compounds in guggul (guggulsterones) may speed that enzyme up. If that happens in people too, your body could clear axitinib faster than intended, leaving less of it to fight your kidney cancer. In other words, the worry here is a weaker effect, not more side effects.

I want to be honest that this is based only on test-tube research, so we can't say for sure it matters in real life. But with a cancer medicine, even a possible drop in effectiveness is worth taking seriously. Please don't change anything on your own. Check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding guggul.

What Is Axitinib Used For?

Brand name: Inlyta

Axitinib (brand name Inlyta) is used to treat advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC), a type of kidney cancer. Inlyta can be used as a first-line treatment — meaning the very first treatment you receive — when combined with either avelumab or pembrolizumab, two other cancer medicines.

Inlyta is also approved as a single agent (on its own) for patients with advanced RCC who have already tried one other systemic (body-wide) cancer therapy that did not work or stopped working.
