Treprostinil (IV) falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Holy Basil interacts with.

Theoretically, holy basil seed oil might increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Animal research shows that holy basil seed oil can prolong bleeding time, possibly due to inhibition of platelet aggregation. However, it is not known if this occurs in humans.

Here's the thing with treprostinil (Remodulin): besides widening blood vessels for pulmonary hypertension, it also makes your platelets a little less sticky on its own. That means it can nudge up your bleeding risk by itself. Holy basil seed oil may do something similar, slowing platelets and lengthening bleeding time, at least in animal studies.

Stacking the two could, in theory, add up to a bit more bleeding risk, think easier bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that's slower to stop. But I want to be honest: this is based only on lab and animal work, not people, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. Since IV treprostinil is a serious medication, please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before adding holy basil.

About Treprostinil Injection

What Is Treprostinil Injection Used For?

Brand name: Remodulin

Treprostinil injection is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH, WHO Group 1) — high blood pressure in the arteries that supply the lungs. It works to reduce the symptoms that make exercise difficult. Clinical studies included patients with moderate-to-severe PAH symptoms (NYHA Class II–IV) due to idiopathic or heritable PAH, PAH related to congenital heart defects, and PAH related to connective tissue diseases.

It is also used for PAH patients who need to transition off epoprostenol — a related medication — to slow the worsening of their condition during that switch. The risks and benefits of the transition should be carefully discussed with a specialist before starting.
