Aspirin, Caffeine, Hydrocodone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Hu Zhang interacts with.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP1A2 enzyme. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
This combo product has three ingredients, but the one to watch here is the caffeine. Caffeine is broken down by an enzyme called CYP1A2, and lab studies suggest the resveratrol in Hu Zhang might slow that enzyme down a little. In theory, that could let caffeine linger longer in your body, which might mean more jitteriness, a racing or pounding heart, trouble sleeping, or feeling wired.
I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. This concern comes only from test-tube research and has never actually been reported in real people. The aspirin and hydrocodone parts aren't really affected by this pathway. Still, if you're already sensitive to caffeine or take this regularly, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Hu Zhang.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES

Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, a clinical study in adults with NAFLD found that adding resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks did not necessitate dose adjustments to any established medications metabolized by CYP3A4.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
This combination product pairs aspirin and caffeine with hydrocodone, an opioid pain reliever. Hydrocodone is partly processed by the CYP3A4 enzyme in your liver. The thinking here is that resveratrol in Hu Zhang might slow that enzyme down a bit, which could let hydrocodone build up slightly. In theory, that might mean more opioid side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, slowed breathing, or feeling more sedated than usual.
I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It comes from lab dishes, not from real people taking this medicine. In fact, one human study using a hefty dose of resveratrol didn't require any dose changes. Still, since hydrocodone affects breathing, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist before combining them.

The piece of this combo pill I want to focus on is the aspirin. Aspirin already makes your platelets less sticky, which is how it thins the blood. Hu Zhang is rich in resveratrol, and in lab studies resveratrol seems to do something similar. Stack the two together and, in theory, you could nudge your bleeding risk a little higher.
In real life that might show up as easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or a cut that takes longer to stop. To be honest, this concern is theoretical, based on how the herb behaves in the lab rather than strong human studies, so don't panic. Still, since Damason-P contains aspirin, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a concentrated Hu Zhang supplement, especially around any surgery or dental work.
