Huperzine A + Glycopyrrolate
Glycopyrrolate brand names: Robinul, Robinul Forte, Glycopyrrolate Injection, Seebri, Lonhala Magnair Kit, and others.
Huperzine A has a moderate interaction with Glycopyrrolate. Theoretically, huperzine A might decrease the effects of anticholinergic drugs.

ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Glycopyrrolate
Glycopyrrolate falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Huperzine A interacts with.
Huperzine A has acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibiting effects. In animal models, huperzine A reversed cognitive deficits induced by scopolamine, an anticholinergic drug.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: glycopyrrolate works by blocking a brain and body chemical called acetylcholine. That's how it dries up saliva and cuts down stomach acid. Huperzine A pushes in the opposite direction, since it raises acetylcholine levels. So in theory, the two can partly cancel each other out, and glycopyrrolate might not work quite as well.
In real life, this could look like more drooling or saliva than expected, or less relief if you're taking it for ulcers. I want to be honest though: this concern comes mainly from animal lab studies, not solid human data, so it's more of a theoretical heads-up than a proven problem. Still, since both are biologically active, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Glycopyrrolate page
“People take glycopyrrolate (Robinul, Seebri) to calm excessive sweating, drooling, or the airway secretions of COPD, and the 46 supplements on this list warrant real caution, the three rated major above all. Henbane and scopolia carry the same atropine-family alkaloids the drug mimics, so adding them can push dry mouth, racing heart, a…”

About Huperzine A
What is Huperzine A?
- Memory and cognitive support
- Alzheimer's disease and dementia
- Age-related memory decline
- Focus and mental performance
- Myasthenia gravis (traditional/older use)
Huperzine A is a purified compound from a Chinese clubmoss that acts like a mild cholinesterase inhibitor, similar in mechanism to some prescription Alzheimer's drugs. Some small studies suggest it may modestly help memory in people with dementia, but the evidence is limited and the quality is uncertain. Because it is biologically active and not well standardized, talk with a pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
