Here is the thing to know: galantamine and huperzine A do basically the same job in the body. Both slow down the enzyme (acetylcholinesterase) that clears away acetylcholine, a memory-related brain chemical. So you are not blocking or speeding up galantamine here, you are doubling up on the same effect.

Stacking them can push acetylcholine too high and bring on more of galantamine's known side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, dizziness, a slow heartbeat, or feeling lightheaded. This concern is mostly theoretical and built on limited evidence, but the overlap is real and worth taking seriously. Please don't add huperzine A to your galantamine on your own. Run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can check it's safe for you.
