Viloxazine Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) INHIBITORS — the group Iboga interacts with.

Theoretically, taking iboga with CYP2D6 inhibitors might increase the levels and clinical effects of ibogaine.
Ibogaine, the active constituent of iboga, is a substrate of CYP2D6. One pharmacokinetic study shows that taking the CYP2D6 inhibitor paroxetine prior to taking ibogaine 20 mg increases the exposure to ibogaine and its metabolite noribogaine by 2-fold when compared with ibogaine alone.

Here's the key thing to understand: in this pairing, it's the Iboga that gets affected, not your viloxazine. Viloxazine (Qelbreenda) blocks an enzyme called CYP2D6, which is the same enzyme your body uses to break down ibogaine, the active compound in Iboga. When that enzyme is slowed down, ibogaine and its byproduct can build up to higher levels. In one study, a similar CYP2D6 blocker doubled the amount of ibogaine in the body.

That matters because Iboga already carries serious risks, including dangerous heart rhythm changes, and higher levels could make those worse. I'll be blunt: ibogaine is illegal in the U.S. and we don't recommend using it. If you're taking viloxazine for ADHD, please don't combine it with Iboga, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist about any concerns.
