Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Telmisartan, Amlodipine
Telmisartan, Amlodipine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Japanese Persimmon interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Twynsta combines two blood pressure lowering medicines: telmisartan (an ARB) and amlodipine (a calcium channel blocker). Neither is a prodrug here, so we don't have to worry about flipping the effect. The concern is simpler. Japanese persimmon may have its own mild blood pressure lowering action, so stacking it on top of Twynsta could push your numbers a little lower than intended.
If that happens, you might notice dizziness, lightheadedness, feeling faint when you stand up, or unusual tiredness. Keep in mind this is largely theoretical and based on limited evidence, and simply enjoying persimmon as a fruit is unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated leaf extracts or supplements are the bigger question mark. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before using those medicinally.
