Glipizide, Metformin falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Khella interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use might result in increased photosensitivity. Khella constituents can cause photosensitivity. Some drugs that cause photosensitivity include amitriptyline (Elavil), quinolones (Ciprofloxacin, others), sulfa drugs (Septra, Bactrim, others), and tetracycline.

Here's the thing to know about combining khella with your Metaglip (glipizide plus metformin): this isn't about how the herb changes your blood sugar medicine or how your body breaks it down. It's about your skin. Khella contains compounds (khellin and visnagin) that can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, and glipizide can do the same thing on its own. Put them together and you may sunburn more easily, even on a cloudy day.

I'll be honest with you, this is based on weak, anecdotal evidence and is mostly theoretical, so don't panic. If you do use both, just be smart about sun protection (sunscreen, a hat, covering up). And always check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding khella.
