Some drugs that can adversely affect the liver include acetaminophen (Tylenol), amiodarone (Cordarone), carbamazepine (Tegretol), isoniazid (INH), methotrexate (Rheumatrex), methyldopa (Aldomet), and many others.

Here's the gist with khella and your pravastatin (Pravachol). This isn't about one drug changing how the other is broken down. Instead, both can be a little tough on the liver. Like all statins, pravastatin can occasionally bump up your liver enzymes, and khella has been shown to do the same. Stack them together and that effect could, in theory, add up.

I'll be honest, this is mostly a theoretical concern, and serious liver trouble from pravastatin is uncommon. Still, if you take both, watch for warning signs like yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, unusual tiredness, or pain in the upper right belly. Before adding khella, check in with your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on your liver bloodwork.

What Is Pravastatin Used For?

Brand name: Pravachol

Pravastatin Sodium tablets are used alongside a cholesterol-lowering diet to treat high LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), high triglycerides (blood fats), and abnormal cholesterol levels. They are approved for adults and for children ages 8 and older with a hereditary form of high cholesterol called heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH).

In people without known heart disease, pravastatin helps reduce the risk of heart attack and cardiovascular death. In people who already have coronary heart disease (CHD), it is used to reduce the risk of heart attack, coronary death, stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA), and procedures to restore blood flow to the heart — and to slow the buildup of plaque in the arteries.
