Clinical research suggests that kiwi inhibits platelet aggregation. Theoretically, kiwi might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs. Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the quick picture: tirofiban (Aggrastat) is a strong IV blood thinner given in the hospital, usually during heart procedures or for certain types of chest pain. Its whole job is to stop platelets from clumping and forming clots. Kiwi, based on lab research, may also gently nudge platelets in that same anti-clotting direction.

So in theory, eating kiwi alongside tirofiban could add a little extra to the blood-thinning effect, which might mean more bruising or bleeding. I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on how kiwi behaves in studies, not proven cases. And since tirofiban is given under close hospital monitoring, your care team is already watching your bleeding risk carefully. If you have questions, just mention your kiwi intake to your doctor or pharmacist.

Tirofiban hydrochloride injection — available as Aggrastat and under the generic names Tirofiban and Tirofiban Hydrochloride — is used intravenously in people with non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS), a type of unstable heart condition where blood flow to the heart is dangerously reduced.

The goal is to lower the combined risk of death, heart attack (myocardial infarction), or persistent ischemia (insufficient blood flow to the heart) that may require a repeat cardiac procedure.
