ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Enalapril Maleate
Enalapril Maleate falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Kiwi interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: kiwi may have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own. Your enalapril (Vasotec) already works to relax blood vessels and bring your pressure down. Stack the two together and, in theory, your numbers could dip a little lower than expected. If that happens, you might notice things like lightheadedness, dizziness when you stand up quickly, tiredness, or feeling a bit washed out.
I want to be honest about how soft this is, though. This is a theoretical concern based on how kiwi behaves, not strong human studies. Eating kiwi as a normal food is very unlikely to cause trouble for most people. If you eat a lot of it or you already run low, just keep an eye on your readings and chat with your pharmacist or doctor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Enalapril Maleate page
“Potassium is the supplement I worry about first with enalapril maleate (Vasotec, Epaned). This ACE inhibitor, used for high blood pressure and heart failure, already makes the body hold onto potassium, so adding more can raise blood levels too far, a problem called hyperkalemia.”

About Kiwi
What is Kiwi?
- Constipation and digestive health
- Vitamin C and antioxidant support
- Sleep support
- Immune support
- Heart and cholesterol health
Kiwi is a nutritious fruit that is rich in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants, and it is generally safe to eat as a food. The strongest evidence is for helping with constipation and overall digestive regularity, while other uses like better sleep or immune support are far less proven. People with a known kiwi or latex allergy should avoid it.
About Enalapril
What Is Enalapril Used For?
Brand names: Vasotec, Epaned
Enalapril treats high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks.
It also treats symptomatic heart failure. It is used for asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction (a weak pumping chamber of the heart without symptoms) to slow the development of overt heart failure and reduce hospital stays for heart failure. Enalapril oral solution (including Epaned) is labeled for high blood pressure in adults and children older than one month.
