Theoretically, taking Latilactobacillus sakei with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. sakei.
Latilactobacillus sakei preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. sakei preparations by at least two hours.

Here's the simple version: this interaction goes the other way around from what most people expect. It's not that the probiotic changes how daptomycin works in your body. Instead, daptomycin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria, and Latilactobacillus sakei is a live bacterium. So taking them at the same time can wipe out a good chunk of the probiotic before it has a chance to do anything.

The good news is your daptomycin will still fight your infection just fine, and you don't need to worry about extra side effects from this combo. Daptomycin is also given as an injection, usually in a clinic or hospital, so timing is often handled for you. If you're using the probiotic for your own reasons, just space it apart and check with your pharmacist on the best plan.

About Daptomycin Injection

What Is Daptomycin Injection Used For?

Brand names: Cubicin, Dapzura RT

Daptomycin injection is used to treat complicated skin and skin structure infections (cSSSI) caused by specific gram-positive bacteria — including MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) — in adults and children ages 1 to 17. It is also used to treat Staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infections (bacteremia) in adults and children ages 1 to 17, including adult patients with right-sided infective endocarditis (a serious infection of the heart's inner lining).

Important limits: daptomycin injection is not approved for pneumonia or for left-sided infective endocarditis due to S. aureus. It is also not recommended for infants under 1 year of age due to potential risks to the muscular and nervous systems seen in animal studies.
