Here's the gist of this one: your blood pressure combo (captopril plus hydrochlorothiazide) can already make your skin a little more sensitive to sunlight, and that's mostly the hydrochlorothiazide part. The concern with lime isn't about how your body breaks the medicine down. Instead, it's about the oils in lime peel (compounds called furanocoumarins) that can react with sunlight on your skin. Put the two together and you could, in theory, sunburn or develop a rash more easily.

The honest truth is this is a theoretical worry based on lab work, not real patient cases. Squeezing lime in your drink or food is very unlikely to matter. The bigger risk is getting concentrated lime oil on your skin and then heading into the sun. If you use lime essential oil, rinse it off and wear sunscreen, and ask your pharmacist if you're unsure.

What Is Captopril and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Capozide, Acezide

Captopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). The two ingredients work together to lower blood pressure more effectively than either one alone.

This combination may be started as initial therapy or substituted when a patient has already been adjusted on both ingredients separately. It is approved for patients with normal kidney function, and is used more cautiously in those with impaired kidney function.
