Lime + Methylprednisolone
Methylprednisolone brand names: Medrol, Medrol Dosepak.
Lime has a moderate interaction with Methylprednisolone. Animal research shows that phenolics in lime juice inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Methylprednisolone
Methylprednisolone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Lime interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down methylprednisolone (Medrol). Some plant compounds in lime can slow that enzyme down, at least in animal studies. If the enzyme works slower, your steroid could clear out of your body a little more slowly and build up. That might mean stronger steroid effects, things like fluid retention and puffiness, higher blood sugar, mood or sleep changes, or stomach upset.
Now, please don't worry too much. This is based only on rat research using large amounts of lime juice, not real people. A squeeze of lime in your food or a drink almost certainly won't matter. If you're using concentrated lime products or lime oil regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

About Lime
What is Lime?
- Source of vitamin C
- Digestive upset
- Skin care
- Mood and aromatherapy
- Flavoring and food preservation
Lime is a common citrus fruit and a good natural source of vitamin C and plant antioxidants. As a food it is generally safe and enjoyed by most people, but evidence that lime treats any specific health condition is limited. Use the essential oil with care, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated lime products for health reasons.
About Methylprednisolone
What Is Methylprednisolone Used For?
Brand names: Medrol, Medrol Dosepak
Methylprednisolone is used for a range of inflammatory, allergic and hormone-related conditions. What a product treats depends on its form.
Injectable suspension (such as Depo-Medrol and methylprednisolone acetate): given into a muscle when oral therapy is not feasible. It is used for severe allergic conditions that have not responded to standard treatment, certain skin diseases, and adrenal gland insufficiency.
Medrol and other methylprednisolone tablets: used for hormone disorders, rheumatic disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis and gout flares, and collagen diseases such as lupus.
