Here's the gist: simvastatin is processed by your liver, and like other statins it can occasionally bump up your liver enzymes. Manchurian Thorn is being flagged because high doses caused liver stress in animal studies. The concern is simple addition. If both put a little extra workload on your liver, the worry is that together they could raise the chance of liver irritation.

I want to be honest about the strength here: this is theoretical, based on animal research and pharmacology, not real-world reports in people. Everyday culinary amounts are far less of a worry than concentrated supplement doses. Still, watch for signs like unusual fatigue, yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, or pain in your upper right belly, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

About Simvastatin

What Is Simvastatin Used For?

Brand name: Zocor

Simvastatin tablets are used alongside a cholesterol-lowering diet to treat high LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), high triglycerides, and certain inherited cholesterol disorders, including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH) in adults and children aged 10 and older, and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) in adults.

In adults who already have coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease, or diabetes and are at high risk for heart events, simvastatin is also used to reduce the risk of death from heart disease, non-fatal heart attack, stroke, and the need for procedures to open blocked arteries. Zocor is one brand-name product containing simvastatin and carries these same indications.
