Alogliptin, Pioglitazone falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Maqui interacts with.

Theoretically, maqui fruit extract may increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research shows that maqui berry reduces fasting blood glucose. However, maqui berry extract taken orally, either as a single dose or daily for 3 months, does not decrease fasting blood glucose in prediabetic patients. It is unknown whether it might reduce blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.

Oseni combines two diabetes medicines: alogliptin and pioglitazone. Both work to lower your blood sugar, so the concern here is simple. Maqui berry may also nudge your blood sugar down a little, and stacking that on top of your medication could in theory push it too low. Watch for the usual signs of low blood sugar, like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, headache, or feeling suddenly hungry or confused.

The good news is that this is rated a minor, mostly theoretical interaction. In fact, human studies in prediabetic people found maqui did not lower fasting blood sugar at all. Eating the berry as food is very unlikely to matter. If you want to try a concentrated maqui supplement, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your readings.
