Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ASPIRIN
Why this applies to Acetaminophen, Aspirin
Acetaminophen, Aspirin falls under ASPIRIN — the group Meadowsweet interacts with.
Meadowsweet contains salicin, a plant salicylate; however, salicin doesn't seem to have the antiplatelet effects of aspirin.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version. Your medication already contains aspirin, which is a salicylate. Meadowsweet naturally contains its own salicylates (aspirin-like compounds), so taking both together could, in theory, stack one salicylate on top of another. That means a little more of the same effect, with a slightly higher chance of stomach irritation, heartburn, or ringing in the ears if salicylate levels climb too high.
I want to be honest about the evidence though. This concern is theoretical, based on what's in the plant rather than real human studies, and meadowsweet's salicylate doesn't seem to thin the blood the way aspirin does. A cup of tea is unlikely to be a problem, but concentrated supplements are less predictable. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Acetaminophen, Aspirin page
“Acetaminophen with aspirin (Gemnisyn) is the kind of pain reliever people take without a second thought, which is exactly why its interaction list deserves genuine care. More than 200 of the 321 ingredients on file thin the blood in some way, and layered on top of aspirin that means a higher chance of bleeding, especially in the stomach.”

About Meadowsweet
What is Meadowsweet?
- Heartburn and indigestion
- Cold and flu symptoms
- Mild aches and pains
- Fever
- Joint discomfort
Meadowsweet is a traditional European herb that contains natural salicylates (aspirin-like compounds) and is used mainly for digestive upset, colds, and minor aches. High-quality human studies are lacking, so its benefits are not well proven, and people sensitive to aspirin should be cautious. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
