Dulaglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Pata De Vaca interacts with.

Animal research suggests that pata de vaca may have hypoglycemic effects. However, preliminary clinical research shows that pata de vaca does not reduce blood glucose levels. Until more is known, use with caution. Theoretically, concomitant use of pata de vaca with antidiabetes drugs might affect glucose control and increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the simple version: Trulicity (dulaglutide) already works to lower your blood sugar, and Pata de Vaca is traditionally used for the same purpose. The worry is additive, meaning if both nudge your glucose down at the same time, you could dip too low. Signs of low blood sugar include shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, confusion, or feeling suddenly weak and hungry.

I want to be honest about the strength of this concern. It's theoretical, based mostly on animal studies, and some early human research didn't show much blood-sugar lowering from the herb at all. So this isn't a reason to panic. Still, since they pull in the same direction, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining them so they can keep an eye on your numbers.

What Is Dulaglutide Injection Used For?

Brand name: Trulicity

Trulicity (dulaglutide) injection is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults and children 10 years and older with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is not for type 1 diabetes.

Trulicity is also used in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors to lower the risk of major heart events — specifically cardiovascular death, non-fatal heart attack, or non-fatal stroke.
