The piece of this combination product that matters here is the codeine. Codeine is an opioid pain reliever that already slows down your breathing and makes you drowsy. Phenibut is a calming, sedating substance that works on the same brain pathways. Stacking two depressants like these can pile on top of each other, so you may feel more groggy, dizzy, or foggy than expected, and in higher amounts your breathing can slow down to a dangerous degree.

This warning is based on how these substances behave and on case reports, not large studies, so it is a theoretical concern rather than a proven one. Still, with opioids, slowed breathing is serious. We do not recommend phenibut at all. Please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything with this medicine.
