Theoretically, danshen may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Danshen has been reported to have antithrombotic effects. Animal research also suggests that taking a danshen combination formula with clopidogrel exhibits a synergistic increase in antiplatelet aggregation and prolongation of coagulation time when compared with either taken alone.

The piece of this combo product that matters here is the aspirin. Aspirin is an antiplatelet drug, meaning it makes your blood platelets less sticky so they don't clump together as easily. Danshen seems to thin the blood in its own way too, so pairing the two could stack those effects and raise your risk of bleeding.

In real life that might look like easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or stomach irritation that turns into a darker, tarry stool. Honestly, the evidence here is mostly theoretical and based on animal studies, so it's not a sure thing. Still, because bleeding can be serious, I'd check with your pharmacist or doctor before using Danshen alongside this medicine, and don't change anything on your own.

Research in healthy adult males shows that taking a combination of danshen and kudzu with aspirin increases plasma aspirin area under the curve by approximately 3.4-fold. Animal research also shows that taking a combination of danshen and kudzu (danshen-gegen formula) with aspirin increases maximal blood levels of aspirin and salicylic acid by approximately 4-fold and 3.7-fold, respectively, without impacting blood loss. Taking danshen increases the antiplatelet activity of aspirin and might increase the side effects of aspirin.

Your combination product contains aspirin, and that's the piece Danshen interacts with. In one study of healthy men, pairing Danshen (with kudzu) and aspirin raised the amount of aspirin in the blood by roughly 3.4 times. On top of that, Danshen on its own can thin the blood a little, so it may add to aspirin's effect on your platelets.

What that could mean for you is a higher chance of bleeding-type problems: easy bruising, nosebleeds, stomach upset or irritation, or bleeding that's slow to stop. This is rated moderate and probable, but it leans on small studies. If you take this medicine regularly, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Danshen.
