Drug & supplement interaction

Phenibut + Rotigotine

Rotigotine brand name: Neupro.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Phenibut and Rotigotine in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Phenibut and Rotigotine

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Rotigotine and Phenibut in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Phenibut safety at a glance

Phenibut overall Avoid Phenibut carries a high risk of dependence, dangerous withdrawal, and overdose, and is not approved as a supplement or drug in the U.S.
Pregnancy Avoid There is no safety data in pregnancy and it is a CNS depressant, so it should be avoided.
Breastfeeding Avoid It is unknown whether phenibut passes into breast milk, so it should be avoided while breastfeeding.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Rotigotine

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Rotigotine is filed under 2 classifications — dopamine agonists, topical drugs. Phenibut has documented interactions with 2 drug classes — the most serious being cns depressants (moderate) and pregabalin (lyrica) (moderate) — and none of Rotigotine’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Phenibut and Rotigotine May Share Several of the Same Side Effects

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do. 6 of them are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

This page covers Phenibut only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Rotigotine page lists 7 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

The most serious there right now: Ayahuasca (moderate), Black Horehound (moderate), Dimethylsulfoxide (dmso) (moderate), Syrian Rue (moderate) and Turpentine Oil (moderate).

By severity: 6 moderate · 1 minor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Rotigotine page

“Rotigotine (Neupro) treats Parkinson's disease and restless legs through a skin patch, and the seven supplement interactions on file split along those two facts. None rates major, six are moderate and one minor, so this reads as a watch list rather than a stop list.”

About Phenibut

What is Phenibut?

Phenibut
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Insomnia and sleep problems
  • Stress relief
  • Mood and focus
  • Reducing alcohol withdrawal symptoms (unproven)

Phenibut is a synthetic, lab-made central nervous system depressant—not a natural herb—that some people use for anxiety and sleep, but it carries a serious risk of tolerance, dependence, and dangerous withdrawal. It is not an approved medication or dietary supplement in the United States, and we do not recommend its use. Talk to a doctor or pharmacist about safer, proven options for anxiety or sleep.

Synthetic compound (not a plant part) · Powder, capsules, tablets

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Phenibut is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Phenibut record says about it on its own.

Phenibut: dosing

There is no established safe or standardized dose of phenibut for use as a supplement, and it is not approved as a medicine or supplement in the United States. Products sold online are unregulated, so the actual amount and purity can vary widely and be unpredictable.Because of the real risk of dependence, dangerous withdrawal, and overdose, we do not provide dosing guidance and do not recommend using phenibut. If you already use it regularly, do not stop suddenly—get medical help to taper safely.
