CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Acetaminophen, Oxycodone
Acetaminophen, Oxycodone falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Poria Mushroom interacts with.
Animal research shows that poria mushroom extract has sedative properties. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
The oxycodone half of Percocet is already a sedating opioid, so it can cause drowsiness, slowed breathing, dizziness, and grogginess on its own. The concern here is simple: animal studies hint that Poria mushroom may have its own mild calming, sedative effect. If that holds true in people, layering it on top of oxycodone could, in theory, make you sleepier or more lightheaded than you'd expect.
I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This is theoretical and comes only from lab and animal research. It has not been shown in humans, and Poria's sedative effect appears mild at most. Still, since oxycodone is a strong opioid, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you already feel drowsy on your dose.

Poria mushroom (Fu Ling) is a fungus long used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, mainly as a mild diuretic and digestive and calming aid.
