Probiotics + Terbinafine
Terbinafine brand name: Lamisil.
Probiotics has a minor interaction with Terbinafine. Theoretically, taking antifungals with certain probiotics might decrease the effectiveness of probiotics.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIFUNGALS
Why this applies to Terbinafine
Terbinafine falls under ANTIFUNGALS — the group Probiotics interacts with.
Some probiotics such as Saccharomyces boulardii are fungi. Therefore, simultaneously taking antifungals might kill a significant number of these organisms.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist of this one, and it's pretty mild. Most probiotics are bacteria, and terbinafine only fights fungi, so it won't touch those bacterial strains at all. The one exception is a probiotic yeast called Saccharomyces boulardii. Since terbinafine is an antifungal, in theory it could knock out some of that yeast and make that particular probiotic work less well. This is a theoretical concern based on how the drugs work, not something widely seen in real patients.
The good news is your terbinafine keeps treating your nail or scalp infection just fine either way, the probiotic isn't going to weaken your antifungal. If you're taking a yeast-based product, ask your pharmacist whether to space it out or pick a bacterial strain instead.

These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. This page covers Probiotics only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Terbinafine page lists 72 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Terbinafine page
“Liver strain is the risk that dominates this list. Terbinafine (Lamisil), the antifungal most people take for months to clear a nail infection, can injure the liver in rare cases on its own, and 38 of the 72 supplements catalogued here carry liver risks that could stack on top of that.”

About Probiotics
What is Probiotics?
- Digestive health and regularity
- Antibiotic-associated diarrhea
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Vaginal and urinary health
- Immune support
- General gut microbiome balance
Probiotics are live 'friendly' microbes that may help certain digestive conditions, such as antibiotic-associated diarrhea and some cases of IBS, though benefits depend heavily on the specific strain and dose. They are generally well tolerated for healthy people but should be used with caution by those with serious illness or weakened immune systems. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor to pick a product that matches your goal.
About Terbinafine
What Is Terbinafine Used For?
Brand name: Lamisil
Terbinafine tablets treat fungal infections of the toenails or fingernails caused by dermatophytes (onychomycosis, also called tinea unguium). Nail samples should be tested first to confirm the diagnosis.
Topical terbinafine products, such as Lamisil AT cream and spray, cure most athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris) and ringworm (tinea corporis). They also relieve itching, burning, cracking and scaling. A CVS cream is labeled for jock itch only. A Toenail Fungus Treatment liquid is labeled for nail fungus, discoloration, thickening, splitting, crumbling and brittleness.
