Quercetin + Empagliflozin
Empagliflozin brand name: Jardiance.
Quercetin has a moderate interaction with Empagliflozin. Theoretically, concomitant use of quercetin and antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Empagliflozin
Empagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Quercetin interacts with.
Clinical research suggests that a combination of quercetin, myricetin, and chlorogenic acid reduce levels of fasting glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes, including those already taking antidiabetes agents. The effect of quercetin alone is unknown.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version on pairing quercetin with Jardiance (empagliflozin): quercetin may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own, so stacking it on top of your diabetes medicine could, in theory, push your sugar a little lower than expected. Empagliflozin isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about your liver activating or clearing it differently. It's simply two things nudging glucose in the same downward direction.
To be honest, the evidence here is thin. The studies used quercetin combined with other compounds, so what quercetin does on its own is unclear, and the concern is largely theoretical. On its own, empagliflozin rarely causes low blood sugar, so big drops are unlikely unless you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea. Still, if you start a high-dose supplement, watch for shakiness, sweating, or dizziness, and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Empagliflozin page
“Almost everything on this page can nudge blood sugar in someone taking empagliflozin (Jardiance) for type 2 diabetes, heart failure, or kidney protection, and two entries deserve genuine caution before anything else. Siberian cocklebur has caused severe low blood sugar in humans and should not be combined with any glucose-lowering medi…”

About Quercetin
What is Quercetin?
- Seasonal allergies
- Antioxidant support
- Heart and blood pressure health
- Anti-inflammatory support
- Immune support
- Exercise recovery
Quercetin is a plant flavonoid with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties found in many common foods and sold as a supplement. While early research is interesting for allergies, blood pressure, and inflammation, strong human evidence is limited for most uses. It is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking high-dose supplements.
About Empagliflozin
What Is Empagliflozin Used For?
Brand name: Jardiance
Jardiance (empagliflozin) tablets are approved for several important uses in adults. It reduces the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization in adults with heart failure. It also slows the progression of chronic kidney disease by reducing the risk of serious kidney decline, end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization. In adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, Jardiance reduces the risk of cardiovascular death.
Jardiance is also used — alongside diet and exercise — to improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes in adults and children aged 10 and older. It is not recommended for blood sugar control in type 1 diabetes (it may raise the risk of a dangerous condition called diabetic ketoacidosis) or in type 2 diabetes patients with severely reduced kidney function.

Empagliflozin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Empagliflozin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Quercetin — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
