Rosemary + Imipramine
Imipramine brand names: Tofranil, Tofranil PM.
Rosemary has a minor interaction with Imipramine. Theoretically, rosemary might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Imipramine
Imipramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Rosemary interacts with.
In vitro research shows that rosemary induces CYP1A2 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the gist for imipramine (Tofranil) and rosemary. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to help break down imipramine. In lab dishes, rosemary seems to speed that enzyme up a bit. If that happened in your body, it could clear imipramine a little faster, which in theory might make it work less well. For depression that could mean your symptoms aren't as well controlled, and for a child using it for bedwetting, you might notice less benefit.
That said, this is only a theoretical concern seen in test-tube studies, never in real people. Cooking with rosemary almost certainly won't matter. If you take concentrated rosemary supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Imipramine page
“Imipramine (Tofranil) is an older tricyclic antidepressant, and the supplements on this page deserve real scrutiny before you add one. Most of the list acts on the liver enzymes that process the drug, so an ingredient can quietly raise or lower imipramine levels: grapefruit pushes them up, while St.”

About Rosemary
What is Rosemary?
- Memory and concentration
- Digestive upset
- Hair growth
- Anxiety and stress (aromatherapy)
- Muscle and joint discomfort
- Antioxidant support
Rosemary is a fragrant Mediterranean herb that is safe and flavorful in normal food amounts. Some early research suggests possible benefits for memory, mood, and hair growth, but the evidence is limited and far from conclusive. Concentrated supplements and the essential oil should be used carefully, and the essential oil should never be swallowed.
About Imipramine
What Is Imipramine Used For?
Brand names: Tofranil, Tofranil PM
Imipramine is used to relieve symptoms of depression. Both Imipramine Hydrochloride tablets and Imipramine Pamoate capsules are approved for this use. Endogenous depression — the kind that seems to arise from within rather than a clear outside cause — tends to respond especially well. It may take one to three weeks before you notice the full benefit.
Imipramine Hydrochloride tablets are also approved as a short-term, add-on treatment to help reduce nighttime bedwetting (nocturnal enuresis) in children aged 6 and older, after a doctor has ruled out physical causes.

Imipramine Is Linked to Lower Levels of 3 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Imipramine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Rosemary — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
