Here's the quick version: Tirofiban (Aggrastat) is a strong, IV blood thinner that stops platelets from clumping. It's given in the hospital, usually during heart procedures or for serious chest pain. Sweet Vernal Grass, when dried, can form a small amount of dicoumarol, a natural compound that also slows clotting. So in theory, putting the two together could add up and make bleeding more likely.

What that might look like with tirofiban is easy bruising, bleeding gums, nosebleeds, or harder-to-stop bleeding. I want to be honest, though: this concern comes from animal observations and pharmacology theory, not human studies, and tirofiban is closely monitored by your hospital team anyway. Just be sure to mention any supplements you take so your doctor or pharmacist has the full picture.

What Is Tirofiban Used For?

Brand name: Aggrastat

Tirofiban hydrochloride injection — available as Aggrastat and under the generic names Tirofiban and Tirofiban Hydrochloride — is used intravenously in people with non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS), a type of unstable heart condition where blood flow to the heart is dangerously reduced.

The goal is to lower the combined risk of death, heart attack (myocardial infarction), or persistent ischemia (insufficient blood flow to the heart) that may require a repeat cardiac procedure.
