Avandamet combines two diabetes medicines, metformin and rosiglitazone, and both work to bring your blood sugar down. The concern here is simply additive: some animal studies hint that tamarind seed extract may also lower fasting blood sugar a little. Stacked on top of your medication, that could in theory nudge your levels lower than expected.

I want to be honest about the evidence though. This is based on lab and animal work only, not solid human studies, so it is more theoretical than proven. Everyday tamarind in food (chutneys, sauces, drinks) is very unlikely to cause trouble. If you take a concentrated tamarind supplement, just watch for signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.
